Nuclear terror threat real, warns Carr
The threat of terrorists using a nuclear weapon on an American or Australian city is a real one that governments in both countries must plan for, according to former NSW premier Bob Carr and Pete Wilson, a former governor of California. At a forum sponsored by the Australia-America Leadership Dialogue at the University of California, Mr Carr and Mr Wilson agreed that al-Qaeda had been trying to get a nuclear weapon for at least five years and there was a good chance it would succeed.
