One of the non-government groups named in Russian allegations of a UK spy network has dismissed the reports as a smear aimed at undermining its work. Lyudmila Alexeyeva, head of the Moscow Helsinki Group, said the government was trying to turn public opinion against NGOs it wanted to shut down.
