Iraqi rebels launched concerted attacks on military bases in the western town of Ramadi as final election results were being announced Friday, the US military has said. “The attacks by insurgents were a combination of small arms and mortar fire which coincided with the Iraqi governments announcement of results from the first democratic election under the new constitution,” the military said in a statement.
