The regional governor in the southern Iraqi city of Basra said on Friday Iran had freed eight Iraqi coastguards seized in a clash on their waterway frontier. “They were driven by land from Iran and I received them at the border at 11 o’clock last night,” governor Mohammed al-Waili told Reuters.
