A team of Nigerian negotiators tried on Friday to secure the release of four foreign hostages as oil output in the world’s eighth largest exporter recovered from twin attacks earlier in the week. Officials said the four oil workers snatched at gunpoint from an offshore oilfield — an American, Briton, Bulgarian and Honduran — were safe and being held by kidnappers in a vessel offshore, although they did not disclose the identity or motivation of the kidnappers.
