The United Nations has said it is “deeply concerned” at the prospect of escalating hostilities in Nepal after Maoist rebels ended a unilateral truce. A UN statement regretted that repeated appeals for the rebels to extend the ceasefire, and the government to reciprocate, had gone unheeded.
