The police and the army in the Netherlands have established a new unit to deal with incidents involving terrorists or organised crime, the head of the national police service (KLPD) announced on Monday. “For the first time police duties have been combined with defence activities,” KLPD boss Peter van Zunderd told a meeting to mark the New Year.
