Madrassas refuse to expel pupils
Pakistan’s religious schools have refused to meet a 31 December deadline set by the president for the expulsion of foreign students. The governing body of 12,000 madrassas said the order was “illegal, discriminatory and un-Islamic”. President Pervez Musharraf ordered the expulsion in July after at least one of the London suicide bombers was shown to have visited a Pakistani madrassa. Full Story
