Palestinian militant groups said on Monday that European Union monitors had prevented three of their senior commanders from leaving the Gaza Strip and threatened to blast a path in the border to allow them to travel. The Rafah crossing on the border between Gaza and Egypt was opened last month under a deal brokered by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in hope of stirring an economic revival in the coastal strip Israel quit after 38 years of occupation.
