The level of violence around Iraq appeared to be low Thursday during parliamentary elections, with bombs killing three people despite promises by major insurgent groups not to attack polling places. Mortars were responsible for a series of explosions around Baghdad, including one fired at the heavily fortified Green Zone, home to the Iraqi government and U.S. Embassy, as polls opened.
