Madrid’s envoy says Spain, U.S. work as “team” against terrorism
Spain’s envoy to the United States said here Wednesday that the Spanish and U.S. governments are working “as a team” in the struggle against terrorism. At a colloquium at Washington’s Nixon Center, Spanish Ambassador Carlos Westendorp underscored that the two nations “share direct experience (of terrorist attacks) and are equally sensitive to issues related to terrorism.” The exchange of information between Spanish and U.S. security forces is “fluid and frequent,” he said, and the two have signed cooperation agreements in matters of extradition and justice.
