Gabon’s veteran President Omar Bongo has won a fresh seven-year term, according to official poll results. Africa’s longest-serving head of state won 79.2% of the vote on Sunday against his four opponents, the interior minister announced on state TV. Mr Bongo came to power in 1967 as head of a one-party state, but he introduced a multi-party system in 1991. Full Story
