Nicaragua’s Aleman says right must unite to stop Sandinistas
Former President – and convicted embezzler – Arnoldo Aleman said Monday that Nicaragua’s “democratic forces” must unite to avert a victory by the leftist Sandinistas in the November 2006 general elections. In comments to a Managua television station, Aleman, who governed from 1997-2002, said that his center-right Liberal Party is open to discussing any kind of alliance aimed at blocking a return to power by the Sandinistas.
