A group of Salvadoran street-gang members who had occupied this capital’s cathedral to press demands for prison reforms gave up their protest and abandoned the church peacefully. The hooded protesters, who had been inside the cathedral’s towers since Monday, left of their own volition and without violence, Father Carlos Blanco said.
