The mystic art of electronic warfare and the battle against improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Iraq are interfering with each other as both struggle to operate within a cocktail of electromagnetic confusion. The problem is bad enough that Central Command is putting more urgency into developing an EW Coordination Cell to help sort out problems that senior officials say can endanger explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) teams that are trying to disable IEDs, interfere with the radars at airports and slow the task of locating and disabling insurgent communication networks.
