A man accused of torturing and killing five Brazilians of Japanese descent was killed in a shantytown gunfight with police who were trying to arrest him, authorities said Tuesday. Celso Alencar dos Santos, 33, shot at police with a revolver as they arrived to his hideout Monday, and police returned fire, hitting him at least five times, Sao Paulo police spokeswoman Ana Elisa said.
