The government announced Thursday that it will not allow maverick politician Jorge Castaneda to run in next year’s presidential election as the country’s first independent candidate. The Inter American Commission on Human Rights said last week Castaneda’s rights would be violated if he were not allowed to run. The government said it accepted the ruling. Full Story
