President Hamid Karzai condemned the alleged burning of the bodies of two suspected Taliban militants by US soldiers in Afghanistan, and demanded a quick US investigation into the case. Karzai said he had been “very much taken aback and very sorry” when General Karl Eikenberry, the top US general in Afghanistan, informed him of the allegations. A report broadcast on Australian television on Wednesday showed footage of the bodies being burnt, which is deeply offensive to Muslims and contravenes the Geneva Convention. Full Story
