The Colombian military said Thursday that it is investigating the death of a congresswoman’s brother in a supposed clash with soldiers in a rural area of the northwestern province of Cordoba.The armed forces chief, Gen. Carlos Alberto Ospina, told Cordoba radio stations that Mario Pineda, brother of legislator Eleonora Pineda, died Wednesday “in an incident.” Congresswoman Pineda, known as a political ally of the AUC rightist militia federation, has accused the army of falsely describing her brother as a leftist guerrilla killed in combat with government troops.
