Mexican Gov’t To Tackle Burgeoning Crime With 10-point Program
Confronting a surge in crime, much of it the work of feuding drug cartels and Central American gangs, the former spy chief tapped to preside over Mexico’s unwieldy jumble of federal law-enforcement agencies has announced a 10-point plan to contain the violence. The new secretary of public safety, Eduardo Medina, outlined the plan to legislators Wednesday night and set himself a Dec. 31 deadline to complete the first phase of the plan. Full Story
