A member of the Iranian government is due in Saudi Arabia, just days after the kingdom expressed concern about Iran’s influence in neighbouring Iraq. There is growing Saudi concern about Iran’s influence over the predominately Shia government in Iraq. They are also worried by the prospect of a sectarian civil war in Iraq. Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki is visiting Riyadh as part of a tour of the Gulf region, which has already taken him to Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. Full Story
