Soldiers killed 17 rebels in western Burundi when they surprised the insurgents during a routine patrol, an army spokesman said Sunday. The army did not suffer any losses after fighting Saturday night against insurgents from the National Liberation Force rebel group in Kanyosha, about 18 kilometers (11 miles) southeast of the capital, Bujumbura, said Maj.
