Local leader of the banned Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) S M Masud Bin Ishaque who was earlier arrested by the police for his suspected links to the August 17 bomb blasts in Sonadanga thana area has confessed today that he received training along with some others on the handling of grenades and AK-47 rifles at two different places in 2001 and 2002. Accused Masud who made a confessional statement before the metropolitan magistrate Shefina Begum today under section 164 CrPC said the night-long training was organised by JMB leaders at a house at village Aichgati under Rupsha upazila in 2001 and at Daulatpur Pabla Ahale Hadith mosque in 2001 and 2002. In his statement, Masud said that the cadres of JMB were involved in the blasting of explosive devices in the circus show and the cinema hall at Satkhira town in 2002, resulting in deaths and injuries to some people.
