Fifteen Uzbeks pleaded guilty on Tuesday to plotting rebellion in the town of Andizhan, but human rights groups said the government was staging the trial to cover up its role in a massacre. Uzbek authorities say the defendants are Islamic terrorists but rights groups accuse officials of forcing bogus confessions from people who took part in the May 13 events when, witnesses said, troops killed hundreds of people.
