Police on Thursday blamed rival Jamaican street gangs for a killing-spree that left 65 people dead in the past two weeks as they vie for control of drug trafficking and extortion rings. So far this year, more than 1,100 people have been murdered in Jamaica and Mark Shields, one of Jamaica’s top police officers, said authorities were doing all they could to reduce the number of violent deaths.
