DEFENSE Secretary Avelino Cruz yesterday called for vigilance amid reports that the al–Qaeda international terrorist network classified the Philippines as one of three secondary priority targets. “What is important is that the public should be vigilant while we (government) are continuing efforts to intensify intelligence gathering. Fighting this requires preparation, vigilance and intelligence,” he said. South Korean officials earlier have been quoted as saying that al-Qaeda has identified South Korea, the Philippines, and Japan as secondary priority targets after first priority targets the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
