Police on the Indonesian resort island of Bali have tightened security and called for heightened public vigilance after a mock bomb was found at a five-star hotel in a popular tourist area. A package left in front of the lift on the fourth-floor of a hotel in the Kuta tourist district yesterday sparked an alert but turned out to contain coal powder inside a PVC tube wired to a battery and a timer. “The police have been tightening security following the finding,” Bali police spokesman A.S.
