U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) director of operations Maj. Gen. Douglas Lute predicts that al-Qaida will infiltrate the Horn of Africa. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Lutz, a senior U.S. military officer, predicts that Iraqi-based al-Qaida guerrillas will migrate to the “vast ungoverned spaces” of the Horn of Africa as the U.S. campaign in Iraq continues to lessen options there.
