Ibrahim Asif’s Re-Arrest for Terrorism Leaves Opposition Suspicious
Ibrhaim Asif was rearrested on Monday under the terrorism act, Maldives police announced yesterday. According to the government newspaper Haveeru, Chief Inspector Ibrahim Khaleel said Asif “was arrested for a second time because of information received about the terrorist activities he was trying to carry out again… He is associated with a Muslim group which was registered in a foreign country”. The inspector did not say the name of the group nor the country within which it operates. Opposition sources have raised skepticism over the credibility of the inspector’s claim. Full Story
