A terror suspect wanted for questioning about the July 7 bombings that killed 56 people in London will be deported to Britain, Zambia’s president said Wednesday. Levy Mwanawasa said British and American investigators have interrogated Haroon Rashid Aswat in Zambia and agreed he should be deported to Britain. No date for the deportation was given. “I would like to confirm that we have arrested Aswat, who has been held on violating the immigration laws of Zambia. Once we were holding him, we realized he was an alleged terrorist. It was agreed between the American and British governments that he should be deported to the United Kingdom,” Mwanawasa told a news conference. Zambian authorities have said they have been questioning Aswat, 31, about 20 phone calls he allegedly made to some of the July 7 bombers on his South African cell phone. Full Story
