Al-Qaeda “Millennium Bomber” Ahmed Ressam was sentenced to 22 years in jail for plotting to blow up a crowded Los Angeles airport terminal with a suitcase bomb five years ago.The Algerian was arrested as he crossed the US-Canadian border with a carload of explosives on the eve of the new millennium on his way to detonate blasts in one the world’s busiest air hubs on New Year’s Eve 1999.
