An Indian state government said Wednesday it will begin supplying arms to tribespeople who have formed vigilante groups to protect themselves from attacks by Maoist rebels. The Communist militants who have been fighting government forces for years are now facing opposition from the bow-and-arrow wielding tribespeople they claim to represent in the central Indian state of Chattisgarh. Angered by harassment and killings allegedly by the rebels of the Communist Party of India Maoists, tribespeople have set up vigilante groups to prevent the rebels from raiding their homes, said local administrator R.
