Twelve killed in violence across Iraq

Twelve people, including six policemen, three Iraqi soldiers and three civilians, were killed in a series of attacks across Iraq, police said. Two police officers were gunned down in separate incidents in the northern Iraqi cities of Samarra and Mosul, while four policemen died in separate shoot-outs in Baghdad. Three soldiers were killed fighting insurgents in the Iraqi capital. Two civilians died when insurgents attacked an Iraqi army base near the northern oil refinery town of Baiji, while a Turkish trucker was also gunned down by unidentified gunmen near Baiji.
