Abbas urges Palestinian militants to halt attacks

GAZA (Reuters) – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas urged militants on Saturday to halt attacks on Israel and return to a ceasefire that has been splintered by violence a month before Israel’s planned pullout from Gaza.

Abbas’s appeal came amid vows by the Islamist militant Hamas of revenge against Israel a day after seven of its gunmen were killed in response to a Palestinian rocket barrage that killed a young Israeli woman on Thursday. Full Story
