Police in Kashmir arrested two people on Friday who they said helped gunmen carry out last week’s audacious attack on a bitterly disputed religious site claimed by both Hindus and Muslims. Gopal Sharma, director general of Kashmir police, told a news conference that the pair had been hired by the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for the assault in Ayodhya, a holy town in India’s northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
