Taliban rebels offered shelter to four Arab militants who are being hunted by US and Afghan forces after they escaped from a high-security prison at the main American base in the war-torn country. Ground troops and helicopters scoured the area around Bagram Air Base, north of the capital Kabul, for a second day as the US military investigated the circumstances of Monday’s jailbreak. A purported spokesman for the Taliban, Abdul Latif Hakimi, told AFP in a satellite telephone call from an unknown location that insurgents from the ousted regime were also searching for the prisoners.
