N.Ky. agencies battle ‘infection’. Representatives from almost 100 local, state and federal agencies huddled Tuesday with health-care workers, cops, emergency-management experts, first-responders and others to learn about a weapon terrorists could use in Kentucky: goats. The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security staged an “agroterrorism” exercise in Northern Kentucky attended by more than 200 people from about 80 agencies. The exercise included a mock crisis of terrorists infecting goats with an agent that could easily be transferred to other animals as well as humans. “We are practicing disaster response. We practice that regularly throughout the state,” said Dr. Michael Auslander, the state’s public health veterinarian. Full Story
