Mubarak says Egypt smashed militant cell
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said that his security forces had smashed a militant cell that was planning to attack Israeli holiday makers in the Sinai. He told Israel’s mass circulation Yediot Ahronot newspaper that two members of the cell had been killed and two others captured by security forces earlier this week. “Two days ago we caught a terror cell in Sinai with weapons and ammunition that was planning to attack Israelis,” he told Yediot.
