By the end of the year, every police and fire department in the county will be armed with the equipment needed to communicate with each other during a crisis. County commissioners on Thursday authorized the purchase of approximately 900 radios to be used as part of a countywide communications system. A $3 million federal grant will provide funding to supply the radios to safety forces throughout the county.
