Nephew of Egypt’s slain president to run in election
The nephew of assassinated Egyptian head of state Anwar Sadat plans to run in September’s presidential election – a race that an Islamist militant convicted for the killing says he also wants to contest. “Talaat Sadat will present his candidacy to become president of the republic,” spokesman Mohsen Eid said, adding that he planned to make a formal announcement today at a monument in Cairo marking the site where his uncle was assassinated.
