Peace talks between Sudan’s government and two rebel groups from the Darfur region have resumed in Nigeria after a six-month break. Nigeria’s President Olusegun Obasanjo urged all sides to spare no effort to end the conflict.
Two years of fighting between rebels and Arab militias has left at least 180,000 people dead and forced more than two million to flee their homes. The UN has said Darfur is one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises.
