Israel and the Palestinians launched a process of coordination on the Jewish state’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, as a new poll showed Israeli support for the withdrawal ebbing. Israel Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz met with the Palestinian pointman for the pullout, civil affairs minister Mohammed Dahlan, for talks that were described by the two sides as “important and positive”. The three-hour meeting in Tel Aviv focused on coordinating Israel’s so-called disengagement plan due to be launched in mid-August leading to the pullout of Israeli soldiers and all 8,000 Jewish settlers from the Gaza Strip.Full Story
