Police counterterrorism officials are satisfied with efforts by the Freedom Tower designers to comply with their recommendations to improve its security, a New York Police Department chief told City Council members yesterday. “We have positioned ourselves exactly where we should be to ensure that the Freedom Tower is the beautiful, elegant, secure, safe, robustly designed project that we all want it to be,” said Deputy Chief John Colgan, who leads the department’s counterterrorism unit.
