Pakistan announced on Monday it would boost defence spending to 223.50 billion rupees for the financial year starting in July, a 3.35 percent increase in rupee terms on the current year’s revised figure. The planned spending figure announced in the budget speech by Minister of State for Finance Omar Ayub Khan compared with a revised budget of 216.26 billion rupees for the year ending on June 30.
