The partnerships that the Department of Homeland Security maintains with importers, carriers and foreign governments to prevent unconventional weapons from entering the United States may be imperfect, but the effort is making the nation safer, the top customs official told a Senate subcommittee yesterday.”There are some further improvements we want to make,” said the witness, Robert C. Bonner, commissioner of United States Customs and Border Security. “But I believe these initiatives are working.
