MYANMAR’S military junta today raised the death toll from a series of bombings this month to 19 and said rebel saboteurs had received training and financing from a “superpower nation”. In their first public comments on the probe into the May 7 bombings, officials said the bombers used sophisticated explosives unavailable in the country – formerly known as Burma – and had been trained by “foreign experts” in rebel-controlled areas near the Thai border.
