Gunmen killed two Iraqi ministry officials in separate incidents Thursday morning as they were headed to work in Baghdad, police said. Brig. Gen. Iyad Imad Mahdi with the Ministry of Defense was gunned down in the western neighborhood of Jihad, police said. Col. Jamal Ahmed Hussien also was killed when gunmen opened fire on his car in the al-Amin neighborhood as he was on his way to the Interior Ministry. Also Thursday, a suicide car bomber drove into in an eastern Baghdad marketplace, killing 12 people and wounding 56 others, Iraqi police said. Full Story
