US Forces Strike Across Euphrates In Hunt For Iraqi Rebels

US forces swept through ravines and open desert on the northern banks of the Euphrates in their hunt for insurgents, in an area near the Syrian border said to serve as a staging post for Iraq’s most wanted man, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Operation Matador, the largest US combat engagement this year, involved a regimental size unit of about 1,000 men sweeping through areas of Al Anbar province, in the northwest of the country, a US military spokesman said Tuesday.Full Story
