Logan International Airport is set for a $15 million security upgrade that includes fingerprint-based identification systems and infrared surveillance. An ”access control” system that uses digital ID badges and fingerprints to restrict access to secure areas will be installed over the next year and will require about 12,500 Massachusetts Port Authority workers and contractors to submit fingerprints, said Dennis Treece, Massport’s director of corporate security. Massport also plans to install 40 infrared cameras to monitor the airport’s 2,400-acre perimeter, although no timetable has been set, Treece said. Full Story
