A Senate review has identified persistent problems in the government’s ability to quickly obtain and use secret intelligence warrants that are considered crucial to tracking terrorism suspects, a senior Republican lawmaker said Wednesday. The warrants are issued by a secret intelligence court in response to government requests to be allowed clandestine surveillance operations against such suspects. But officials with the Senate Intelligence Committee said an audit now being completed by the committee’s staff had found continuing delays in the Justice Department’s processing of applications for them.Full Story
